An effective Sr. Payroll Administrator will help the organization on a whole achieve success through:

Payroll Operations

  • Processing bi-weekly payrolls for US, Canada, and UK team members and administering off-cycle payroll runs and retro calculations as needed
  • Working closely with People and Culture team to improve processes.
  • Working with ADP, Workday, and vendors on payroll system related issues
  • Recommending system enhancements and testing system changes.
  • Designing and conducting audits to ensure high quality of data in the payroll systems and to identify systemic discrepancies
  • Directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data for accurate, scalable payment processing
  • Investigating variances and resolving discrepancies.
  • Leading special projects within the payroll department.
  • Entering benefit deductions, processing garnishment calculations, and proper taxation to ensure compliance
  • Validating employee change requests and adjustment calculations to ensure all adjustments are processed consistently and correctly
  • Completing year end requirements including review and/or preparation of W-2s, annual reconciliations, and submission of wage data to state and local governments
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by staying current on existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
  • Submitting federal, state, and local taxation and reporting monthly, quarterly, and annually
  • Operating independently; managing and tracking your own work progression
  • Providing guidance to less experienced members of the team, as needed
  • Contributing to team and organizational objectives

What we're looking for

We expect:

  • Associate degree in Accounting or Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4+ years of relevant payroll experience
  • Prior experience with Workday
  • Experience with multi-state exposure
  • General knowledge of year-end review and/or preparation of W-2s, W2Cs, annual reconciliations, and submission of wage data to state and local governments
  • Thorough knowledge of standard payroll practices
  • Knowledge of payroll systems or ERP end-to-end payroll processing
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Proficient with accounting software like NetSuite
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including V-lookups and pivot tables
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • Exceptional integrity in producing and communicating accurate work
  • Good analytical skills to efficiently identify errors, omissions, and duplications
  • Able to work successfully with minimal supervision and wide latitude for independent judgement
  • Experience mentoring less experienced team members
